With good numbers of Hooded Crow seen in Ireland and the fact that I haven't got many images of them in my archive. It was a good challenge as they were always wary of the camera being pointed at them. So, I tried the good old fashion way of distraction. Bread!

I'm Glauctacus
This Glaucous Gull put in a all to brief appearance at Rossaveal Harbour for my liking. A worn big heavy weight looking Glauc and on the pale side too, not like that tea coloured bird at Dungeness last year. Just a shame it didn't linger that long for more flight shots even though the light was awful.

On the rocks
Here are a few more images from last weekends trip to Ireland.
Hooded Crow
Cormorant
Jackdaw
This 1st Winter Ring-billed Gull at Nimmo's pier was my favourite bird of the weekend probably due to it being the first I've seen in the UK at this age, having only seen Adults before.

Iceland Gulls
We had to travel around Ireland to gain our eight Iceland Gulls over the two and a half days. One Juvenile at Nimmo's Pier, Five at the small harbour at Rossaveal and two on our last day at Youghal ( the slob).
The Friday and Sunday were nice and sunny but Saturday was a very dull grey day, so a high ISO had to be used which I think the 1D mark 111 can handle without to much noise.
Gulls are a bit like Marmite- You love it or you don't!

Ring-Billed Gulls
On Friday I flew out to Ireland for a weekend of gulling along with Mick Southcott and Richard Smith. A total of 4 Ring- Billed, 8 Iceland, 1 Glaucous, 1 Little and 1 Med gull made the short trip worthwhile.
The trip was based on gull photography and trying to fill up the memory card on the camera which I did and try and cover all the age groups in Ring-Billed Gulls , Iceland Gulls which we did-not bad for my first trip to Ireland. So many thanks to the lads for letting me join in the fun....
The images below are all from the popular Gull site Nimmo's pier.

Redshank
At Gunners Park on Sunday, this Redshank showed well in the small pool by the car park and is by far the closest one that I've photographed and seen.

Serin at Gunners Park
Really enjoyed this morning at Gunners Park Essex as the two Serins that I missed the other week showed nicely around the busy car park area. It was great hearing them sing too. Add in a showy Redshank around the small pool plus a good Stonechat and Mr Redfern as company it was a good morning.
